Margaret meets Henry after fleeing Scotland

I arrive in the King's Reception Room to discuss the situation regarding Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus following our secret marriage and the birth of our daughter Margaret Douglas.

I am told my sister was here and I nod to the servant to let her in.

I greet my brother Henry, there is so much to discuss but we haven't seen each other for a long time and in that time my husband was killed by my sister-in-law's army and I have remarried to my own choice and given birth to a daughter. I am now regretting my decision and I am angry and upset with Angus and Henry who appear to have joined together againsts me.

Hello brother, it's been too long, I am so pleased to see you again. What have you heard?

I greet my sister Margaret as it had been a long time since she was last here in England.

"Margaret it is nice to see you back in England for it has been a long time. I have heard news from Scotland one of which concerned me was the Douglas clan whom I do not like the sound of but another thing troubled me was a marriage you chose without seeking my approval first Margaret?

I was hoping that Henry would be a little supportive but instead he is reproaching me as if I was a naughty child.

Well Harry I am the Dowager Queen of Scotland and I didn't realize that I was expected to ask permission of my younger brother to choose a husband to protect me since his wife killed my husband and king! I do however regret my choice and I do need to be Regent in my son's minority so I was counting on your support brother.

My son James is only a child of nearly 6 years old and the Duke of Albany has come from France to take the Regency.

My husband James did what he thought was best for his country and his subjects and he fought bravely and paid the ultimate price so I would ask you to please not speak of it any more. We have to now forge an alliance with myself as Regent and bring my son up to look upon England as our family and ally.

Of course I knew that Henry would stick up for that arrogant bloodthirsty wife of his and not see my pain and distress.

"Margaret I do believe that making you Regent in Scotland would be best for your son rather than that Duke. In order to place you are Regent he would need to be removed and I will not send soldiers for any unnecessary reason but should you require it then I may decide to help providing that peace can be maintained of course.

I don't think that Albany really wants the job and with your backing I believe that he might be persuaded to return to France as long as you assure him that you will not attack Scotland. The one we will have trouble with is Angus and the Douglases who I fear might take my son for leverage.

I know it won't be easy to convince the Scots barons and nobles to trust Henry but some clans are supporters on the quiet.

I am still irritable with Henry but I am grateful that he is doing his duty by me in trying to persuade Albany to leave the regency of Scotland to me on my son's behalf.

I appreciate this brother, I hope that I can continue working together with England as regent of Scotland and then encourage James to carry this on when he reaches his majority.

In regard to Angus and the Douglas clan, they are very powerful and dangerous and would desperately like to rule Scotland for their own ends.

I know that it is more about the tudor pride than my feelings but I do feel safe under Henry's protection.
